Welcome to Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal!

Thank you so much for choosing to support our vital work. Each year, the Great Daffodil Appeal helps Marie Curie provide expert care to dying people, as well as much-needed emotional support to those they leave behind.

We're planning for our public collections to go ahead in 2022 but continuing to closely monitor guidance to ensure it's safe to do so. Each two-hour shift involves our dedicated volunteers collecting donations in exchange for a daffodil at local supermarkets, train stations and town centres. An in-person collecting shift raises an average of £83 – enough to pay for more than four hours of expert care from our nurses.

But if, for any reason, you’re unable to collect in person in 2022, why not take on a virtual collection instead? Virtual collections make it possible to raise money for Marie Curie from your own home. The money you raise will help Marie Curie Nurses reach more people in desperate need of care and support at the end of their lives.

What is a virtual collection?

After a challenging couple of years, we’re excited about getting back out there and collecting in person in 2022. That said, your safety is always at the forefront of our minds. If in-person collecting isn’t possible for you this March, you can still be a part of this year’s Great Daffodil Appeal by setting up a virtual collection instead. A virtual collection is a way that you can still collect donations for Marie Curie by simply setting up a JustGiving page. This means you don’t even need to leave the house to fundraise, but you can still get involved with promoting your virtual collection and making sure it’s being seen by as many people as possible.

Set up a virtual collection in four easy steps

Step 1

Create your Great Daffodil Appeal virtual collection page here on JustGiving.

Step 2

Set your fundraising target – take a look at how the money you raise will make a difference to people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Step 3

Have you got a connection to Marie Curie? Don’t forget to tell people why you’re fundraising for them when you set up your virtual collection page.

Step 4

Share your story and your Great Daffodil Appeal virtual collection with your friends and family on social media by using our handy social media tools to encourage donations.

Your support means more people will get the care and support they need at the end of their lives
